Set off instead of planning ahead
The waterway reorders itself as you cruise.
Your position, direction, and speed are enough. The view keeps updating and brings forward what you will reach next. When you follow a visible Track, Rivers & Seas recognises it automatically and aligns bridges, locks, and notices with its course, with no navigation start button required. Without a suitable Track, the look-ahead follows the detected waterway. After a lock, arrival at every later place includes its stored duration, or 30 minutes when none is available.

The map is closed
Rivers & Seas can still look up to 20 kilometres ahead.
The map does not need to be open. On an iPhone or iPad with its own location capability, suitable location changes can trigger another check. When Rivers & Seas finds something important, a notification can show the key fact, distance, and estimated time to arrival.
The route ahead is closed
Closures, restrictions, and known opening hours can warn you when a facility will be unavailable at your arrival.
The bridge will not fit
Where the required dimensions are known, insufficient height or width can appear directly on the Lock Screen of an iPhone or iPad.
Large vessel approaching
Available recent AIS traffic can draw your attention to a large vessel or crossing ferry ahead.
Catch the same lockage
When the analysis finds a suitable shared arrival, Rivers & Seas can show the speed needed to reach the lock together.
Allow it once, then let it work automatically
Allow notifications and set location access for Rivers & Seas to Always. The feature can then work in the background on iPhone and iPad with their own location capability. iOS and iPadOS decide when to trigger a check, so there is no guaranteed time or distance interval. Wi-Fi-only iPads without their own location capability are not supported.

Rivers & Seas combines boat dimensions, current speed, gauge levels and tides, opening times, and available navigation notices. Many separate facts become one clear answer: Will the bridge fit when you arrive, will the lock be open, and what traffic lies ahead?

On gauge-dependent inland waterways and at the coast, the expected clearance when you reach the bridge matters—not a static chart value.
Lock closed at arrival
Operating times, closures, and notices relate to your arrival instead of sitting in a separate list beside the map.
Oncoming traffic and ferries ahead
A large vessel around the bend or a crossing ferry appears early as part of the situation on your waterway.
Notices without searching authority portals
ELWIS and EuRIS information becomes part of the trip automatically.
Rivers & Seas processes available notices to skippers, connects them to the waterway, and turns them into plain-language information or warnings. Closures, restrictions, and changed operating times appear where they matter for the journey.

Bridge photos and dimensions make structures easier to recognize. For locks, available operating times, VHF, telephone, usable length, width, and draft appear together. There is no need to assemble critical details just before arrival.

The boating map works worldwide. Rivers & Seas is especially detailed on German and European inland waterways, with gauge-dependent bridge clearances including Berlin-Brandenburg's Spree, Havel, and canals, as well as the Danube and Elbe. Tides and coastal charts make it useful on the way to sea as well.
